Our Wrapping Machines – Artisanal and/or Highly Customized

by

John Hendrix

When I read the article whose picture is above in the New York Times entitled Don’t Mock the Artisanal-Pickle Makers, I thought only of the many entrepreneurs with whom we speak about our entry level wrapping machines. I did not realize how much our approach to machine creation had in common with food creation.

When we set out to build excellent wrapping machines, it was with the thought that we need to understand the wrapping process  and what works best for each specific application – that we needed to be wrapping experts to compliment our customers process expertise.

The author writes, “It’s tempting to look at craft businesses as simply a rejection of modern industrial capitalism. But the craft approach is actually something new — a happy refinement of the excesses of our industrial era plus a return to the vision laid out by capitalism’s godfather, Adam Smith.” We don’t look at what we do as a rejection of industrial capitalism but as an opportunity to hyperspecialize in a specific area. Perhaps that means Package Machinery is also a craft business.

Our workers are skilled at customizing our wrapping machinery designs to the specific requirements of a customer. All our machines are customized to the specific product or products. We focus on our customers needs and create a solution that fits them.

We know that sometimes what we are building has an audience of one company. But, like the pickle maker who knows everything about pickles in small batches, we know wrapping: the pros and cons of different wrapping processes and how to help our customers to blissful packaging of their product.

As the article says, “More significant, we’re entering an era of hyperspecialization.”  Check us out – hyperspecialized wrapping machinery people.
