Working Together for a Well-Wrapped Package

by

Let’s save time and money together.

We have the same goal: adding a piece of wrapping machinery to your production line that makes your operation more efficient and your business more profitable.

Through the years we’ve learned that reaching that goal requires due diligence on both sides. Historically, our customers provide a long, exacting list of expectations without providing a matching list of specifications we need to make it all work.

Collaboration on successful wrapping

heads together on wrapping success

Here’s how we can help each other:

  • Tell us about your current packaging process. Will our overwrapping machine replace an old one, add one to an existing line, or change your wrapping process altogether?
  • Give us a plant tour. It’ll save time if we can see how our technology and equipment will fit in your line rather than describing it through email and phone calls.
  • Explain your buying process to us. We need to understand how you will make the purchase decision and whether or not a company engineer, mechanic or machine operator has participated in the buying process. We want to make sure we address all their concerns before the decision. We want you to have the right wrapping machine for your application.
  • Give us samples and specs of all your SKUs, including the primary packaging and wrapping material. To build a machine that will wrap your products perfectly, it’s vital that our specs are precise. We need to know more than the outside dimensions of the product. We need to know how it behaves in motion, how consistent it is in its dimensions. The choice of wrap…paper or film, clear or printed, the gauge. The method of primary packaging… trays, boxes or none. How easily do you want the package to open? tear tape and notching? How strong a seal do you want? These are just a few of the details we need to know before we can begin building a machine that will meet your expectations.
    • Does the machine need to comply with local codes? While we meet commonly accepted safety standards and can work with various electrical systems, we need to know your expectations. You’ll need to provide those, too, since we don’t have access to all the codes and ordinances in every location. If you can’t provide them, we can’t factor them into the machine’s design.
    • Tell us about any changes. Are you adding a label or code dater during or after wrapping? Do you plan to reconfigure the product or packaging in any way? If so, talk to us so we can incorporate those changes into our design.

And here’s one of the most important considerations of all…
your technician’s involvement

  • Appoint one technical person and a backup to learn how to operate and maintain the machine. Allow them to take advantage of our free, two-day demo and training period. The wrapper may provide the same wrap as your old one, but it is not the same machine. Avoid down time and service calls by letting the people who’ll be responsible for it learn how to run it well.
  • Expect the technician(s) to spend 2-3 days testing and running the machine at startup in your facility. We offer two free days of training on your site for any servo overwrapper. It will pay off in a better startup.
  • Check, double check and triple check the wrap with us in terms of performance, dimensions and layout so that you invest in the right wrap and you’re ready to start production after training is complete.
  • Your technician knows how your production line works. If there are flaws in the packaging process that might affect overwrapping at the end, the technical people are in the best position to give us a heads up so we can prevent a problem rather than solve one later.

Stay in touch.

After installation, we try to call to find out how things are going. Please call us back to let us know if things are running smoothly or if you’re experiencing any difficulties at all. Our mutual goal is to help your company achieve greater efficiencies and, ultimately, greater profits. Let’s get there together.
